As we all know, the Security Gateway Module (SGW) was placed on most 2018 model-year and later FCA vehicles to prevent the OBD2 port via non-original devices from getting access to the vehicles. Xhorse FCA 12+8 universal adapter is a perfect solution to this problem. It can be used with scanners to diagnose faults for Chrysler Jeep Renegade Wrangler 300C vehicles after the 2018 model year.

With Xhorse FCA 12+8 universal adapter, the aftermarket scan tool has all the capabilities on SGW-equipped vehicles as if these vehicles were not equipped with SGW.

How to Use FCA 12+8 Universal Adapter:

You are supposed to see this message when scanning for Chrysler with the Security Gateway Module(SGW): The device is unable to communicate with the control unit. No worries, please follow the steps below to quickly solve this problem.

Step 1: Locate and unplug the 12pin and 8PIN connectors of the SGW module. 
Step 2: Connect the FCA 12+8 directly to the 12pin and 8pin connectors(two connectors that are connected to the SGW) on the car. 

Then the normal communication function with the vehicle can be achieved.

Details:

The position of the SGM varies, but it is often located in the side kick panel, passenger side near the glove box, or behind the radio.
